“Spiritual shrines and cultural monuments, including the Pochayiv and Kyiv Cave Monasteries should belong to the Ukrainian people and state. Today, their legal, economic, and church activities are controlled by a legal person of a foreign state, the Russian Orthodox Church,” stated the head of the Ternopil Regional organization of the Ukrainian People’s Party, Larysa Rymar, as she commented the address of the superior of the Pochayiv Monastery, Archbishop Volodymyr (Moroz) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate, to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Ternopil Region requesting to cancel the decision of the Ternopil Regional Council to return the Pochayiv Monastery to state ownership.
