US hooligans detained in Uman after breaking Jesus sculpture’s feet

On January 21, at the request of the Uman local prosecutor's office, the Uman district court ordered a custodial security measure for two US citizens, who on January 19 partially destroyed the gypsum sculpture of Jesus Christ on the shore near the Megometr plant, 04744.info reports.

On January 21, at the request of the Uman local prosecutor's office, the Uman district court ordered a custodial security measure for two US citizens, who on January 19 partially destroyed the gypsum sculpture of Jesus Christ on the shore near the Megometr plant, 04744.info reports.

The pre-trial investigation found that the 19-year-old and 20-year-old US citizens destroyed the sculpture, set on a wooden cross on the rock near the pond on Vyzvoliteliv street. The attackers broke the element in the form of feet, threw it on the ground and fled.

As reported by the Uman local prosecutor's office, while committing offense, the attackers were drunk. However, they acted purposefully, deliberately, with extraordinary audacity, being guided with hooligan motives.

As reported, on January 20, the Uman local prosecutor's office informed the perpetrators of suspicion of committing a criminal offense, stipulated in Part 2 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Hooliganism, i.e. a gross violation of public order on the grounds of obvious disrespect for society commited with particular audacity by a group of individuals).

The pre-trial investigation into the said criminal proceedings is under the control of the leadership of the Uman local prosecutor's office.
