An unexpected turn was reported with regard to the investigation of a case of corruption of minors by the pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ in the eastern Ukrainian city of Mariupol. The 14-year-old girl who figures as the main victim of the pastor’s pedophilia began to defend him. She stated that he did not molest her in any way and that it was a rehearsal of a dance to the Lord, "Religion in Ukraine reported with reference to gazeta.ua.

“It was a dance to the Lord. Well, a greeting for the Lord. It was a rehearsal of the dance as part of our preparation for a festival. Then the police broke in, confiscated the telephone and did not allow me to call my parents. They ordered us to sit down and not to talk,” said the young parishioner.

The confession of the girl was supervised by the parents. They prompted her to state that the police made her slander the pastor. “They made us slander the pastor, tell the lie,” assured the girl.

The girl’s father, Anatolii, is also a parishioner of the Church of Jesus Christ. He does not consider his daughter a victim. According to him, the arrested pastor held the meeting with God’s love and not debauchery.

“My daughter who figures in the case as the main aggrieved party is not a victim in reality. Because the accusations against Pastor Mykola are false. Yulia and Olena participated in a rehearsal of a dance group at the moment,” stated the girl’s father.

The police stated the opposite. “Fifteen to twenty minutes before the search (that is when the police was already in the office), the pastor performed dissolute actions with the minor. We put no pressure on the victims as we realized they were children,” commented the acting head of the Department of Combating Cybercrime of the Main Police Department of Donetsk Oblast, Andrii Nesbytov.
