пожежа_шостка.jpgSHOSTKAOn March 31, 2010, at night unknown persons set fire to the board “Roman Catholic Church” on the chapel of St. Joseph in the eastern Ukrainian town of Shostka with a cloth soaked in gasoline and a stick. The fire spread to the roof, reports CREDO.

The building of the chapel and monastery of the Franciscan Fathers was left without a roof, power, water and gas supply, and telephone and is flooded.

During the arson, the administrator of the parish, Fr. Leon, was in Kharkiv. A monk, Martselin Kushnir, who lives in the house could have died in the fire if the neighbors had not noticed the fire.

Last year, an Orthodox church of the Kyivan Patriarchate was set on fire in the same manner.
