On June 7-9, 2017, a Ukrainian public forum "X Ecumenical Social Week” is set to be held in Kyiv. It is themed: “Dignity. Service. Solidarity. Towards Country Renewal.” The forum organizer is the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv).

Co-organizers of the Forum: Kyiv Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Pastoral Migration Department of the UGCC, Ukrainian Cooperative Alliance, St. Thomas Aquinas Institute, Kyiv Regional Council and Administration, Department of Culture of the Kyiv City State Administration, St. Clement’s Center, Open Orthodox University of St. Sophia the Holy Wisdom, Ukrainian Academy of Leadership, Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, and others.

According to the Forum organizers, the theme “Dignity. Service. Solidarity. Towards Towards Country Renewal” is particularly relevant, as good examples of solidarity of citizens in times of crisis shows us that the principle of mutual service will work if we find compromise and resolve conflicts together. In their view, human dignity and the dignity of the country in general, serving one another as unanimity and solidarity of interests and mutual responsibility must be in the first place.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) has promoted for several years the idea to hold the Ecumenical Social Week in Kyiv. This year the organizers jointly decided to hold the tenth anniversary Ecumenical Social Week in the capital. In their view, the Forum should be held twice - in Kyiv and Lviv, to show the developments over the previous nine years and also unite the public around important social issues in Ukraine. Kyiv is the best place for such representation.

The open discussions, roundtables, panel discussions, seminars of Ukrainian Christian Academic Society, exhibitions, BarCamp youth, work studio, concert, folk and spiritual music and other events as scheduled as part of the Ecumenical Social Week.

According to the report by IEC, participation in all activities of the Forum is free.
