Луганськ.jpgThe shelter, which can hold 300 people, is in the Evangelical Christian Church in Luhansk. It is being used by people of different faiths, the elderly and children, said "Religion in Ukraine" with reference to the report of Luhansk newspaper.

The shelter has beds, a toilet, bottled water, a refrigerator, a generator with fuel reserve. There are also candles, and a first-aid kit with essential medicine. One of the rooms in the church shelter is for children. It has dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, and coloring pencils.

"We started to repair this basement a few years ago without a purpose," said the first minister of the church Serhiy Dolya. "But a couple of months ago, when the situation aggravated, we started working intensively. We did not have time to finish everything but people I hope are not offended."

Those seeking shelter do not see drawbacks. The shelter is located 200 meters from the territory where militants of the so-called Luhansk People Republic (Pro-Russian separatists) constantly launch mortar and artillery fire. The Ukrainian Army launch missles in return, so some people prefer not to leave the shelter.
