E8A2.jpg-ggg.jpgArchbishop of Simferopol and Crimea of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Klyment (Kushch) believes that the UOC MP in Crimea is being revived, more people start going to church.

"Now, when it became clear under what rules we live in Crimea after the people decide their everyday problems, the Church began to revive,” he said.

According to Bishop Klyment, now 9 parishes have survived in the peninsula, where a regular worship is held.

"We revived worship. Those parishes that we have preserved have priests and parishioners. And most importantly - they hold divine services,” he added.

Earlier, Archbishop Klyment said that the UOC MP in Crimea is experiencing harassment from the scrutiny of the local authorities. Russian arbitration court sentenced to seize premises of the Crimean Diocese of the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate. It is a building of the Cathedral of St. Volodymyr and Olga in the center of Simferopol.

Ukrainian Parliament has officially announced on February 20, 2014 the date of beginning of temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. On October 7, 2015, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a relevant law. International organizations have recognized the occupation and annexation of Crimea illegal and condemned Russia's actions. Western countries have introduced a series of economic sanctions against Moscow. Russia denies the occupation of the peninsula and calls it a “restoration of historical justice.”
