The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Council of Ministers of the Supreme Council of the Crimea headed by Volodymyr Konstantinov, Mufti of the Muslims of the Crimea Khadzhi Emerali Ablaiev, the leadership of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and many others, reports Korrespondent.net.

The participants marched along the central streets of the city in five columns shouting “Allah Akbar” and held a meeting on Lenin’s Square. Approximately 15 thousand Crimean Tatars gathered at the meeting and demanded to restore historic names of the settlements of Crimea and to grant Crimea national autonomy, writes Kommersant.ua.

According to the deputies of the Supreme Council, the authorities will not yield to such ultimatums. “It was not Ukraine that deported the Crimean Tatars, but it was Ukraine that  did a lot for them. The chances of granting the status of national authonomy to Crimea are quite illusory,” stated Oleh Zarubinskyi, the head of the parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations.
