Vydryn_konf.jpgKYIV — The Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, Dmytro Vydrin, stated at a press conference that the “Prayer for Ukraine” ruined the reputation of the churches, reports the Religion in Ukraine web site.  RISU’s Ukrainian-language web site posted this story on February 8, 2010.

“Journalists from Catholic countries have already sent inquiries to the Vatican as to whether there was a blessing given for participation in the political process,” he said.

According to Vydrin, his acquaintances, journalists from Western countries, were surprised to receive a proposal to obtain accreditation to participate in the “Prayer for Ukraine.”

“They asked: ‘How can one be accredited for participation in a prayer? Perhaps, something was incorrectly translated?’” he said

According to Vydrin, religious confessions that agreed to send their representatives to the political event of presidential candidate Tymoshenko consciously chose to “ruin their reputation.”
