Patriatrch Filaret, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP), calls Ukrainians not to vote for the option “against all candidates” in the presidential election.

KYIV – Patriatrch Filaret, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate 1264582412_01.jpg_w.jpg(UOC-KP), calls Ukrainians not to vote for the option “against all candidates” in the presidential election but to vote for a person who, in the opinion of a given voter, “will defend Ukrainian independence, strengthen its sovereignty, promote the spiritual revival of our society,” says a special address of the patriarch published by the UOC-KP press service on January 27, 2010.

Patriarch Filaret called “everyone who appreciates the freedom and independence of Ukraine to come to the precincts on February 7 and participate in the voting, and out of the two candidates elect the one who is the most worthy to head our state as the president for the coming years.”

The hierarch warned that the awareness of the fact that everything is in God hands should not become a pretext for inactive observation.
