“The Law of Ukraine 'On making alterations to certain laws of Ukraine' #1161 of 25.12.2012 is aimed to exclude the Pochayiv Monastery of the Holy Assumption from the list of monuments of cultural heritage, which are not subject to privatization, and to privatize it. Therefore, we are calling the leadership of the state to take decisive steps to prevent the privatization of the shrine which is to belong only to the Ukrainian nation and not to a particular religious community,” said Barna.

According to the deputy, 250,000 signatures were gathered all over Ukraine in protest to the initiative of excluding the Pochayiv Monastery from the list of objects of cultural heritage which are not subject to privatization.
