"Not everyone knows that among the Ukrainian volunteers there are Muslims and recently Jewish unit was formed. Its commander, Maksym was with us from the first battles of 2014 year. This is a real combat unit, currently most of his fighters - at the forefront of the sector M”, writes Olena Bilozerska, blogger and journalist on her Facebook.

She also posted a video showing a lighting candles and prayer on Saturday evening.

"Our fellow soldiers have chaplains of different Christian denominations. But with Jewish chaplains there is a problem. We are not all religious people, not everyone knows that how it should be, but there is desire, there are aspirations to know God. There is a desire to learn Torah, because war always brings people closer to God. So we have a small vacancy. If there is a courageous rabbi who wants to serve with us, he is welcome. Synagogue is ready", said the unit commander.
