During two days, March 25 and 26, a delegation from the UOC (MP) led by Metropolitan Oleksandr (Drabynko) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy and Vyshneve visited the ATO zone.

During two days, March 25 and 26, a delegation from the UOC (MP) led by Metropolitan Oleksandr (Drabynko) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy and Vyshneve visited the ATO zone.

 

Employees of Synodal Military Department of the UOC (MP) and the Foundation in Memoriam of Metropolitan Volodymyr visited Slovyansk and Donetsk, having served liturgy for military units of the Special State Transportation Corps, as Oleksandr Andruschenko, chief editor of the magazine for Orthodox servicemen “Faith & Honor” told RISU.

In particular, on March 25, the delegation visited the military base in Slovyansk, where the Metropolitan served the Presanctified Liturgy. In a speech to military Bishop Oleksandr thanked for safety in the city and wished to return home alive and unharmed as soon as possible. Soldiers were gifted “A Soldier’s Prayer Book” in Ukrainian and small icons, as well as food, personal care means and medication.

 

On Thursday, March 26, the Metropolitan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the center of the tent city of the Ukrainian military, and gifted the ancient icon of the Mother of God of Tikhvin to the commander. The same day the group returned in Slovyansk where Metropolitan Olexandr visited local school №105 named after Taras Shevchenko. He visited the school museum of fine arts, met with teachers and students, and presented gifts.
