Military Chaplaincy Department Urges Priests to Provide Pastoral Care to Military

The Department of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for Pastoral Care in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has appealed to the bishops of the UGCC to help secure chaplains for the Ukrainian military.

“Fifty-seven priests from all our archeparchies, eparchies, and exarchates provide pastoral care to the military and law enforcement officers in peacetime. In the present situation, when the military has been mobilization, there is an increased need for chaplains,” reads the letter released by the department.

The chaplaincy department asks priests to volunteer to provide pastoral care to the military. The department will coordinate cooperation between chaplains and military units which need care. “Unfortunately, fifty-seven priests in the current situation is not enough: the pastors are not able to cover the needs of military personnel in these difficult days in our country. The department will provide methodological support to the chaplains for their work with the military,” states the letter, the military chaplaincy department press service reports.
