Ukrainians Say They Are Less Happy

Over the year, the mood of residents of the northern (78%), central (65%) and southern parts (66%) of the country remained almost the same. But result dropped in the western part from 85% to 72% (while at the same time the number of those who said they were definitely happy dropped from 39% to 19%), in the eastern part from 73% to 64%, and in Donbas from 58% to 52%.

Some 68% of Ukrainians have said they are happy, of which 17% said they are definitely happy, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Rating Sociology Group.

At the same time, every fifth person polled said they were unhappy, and another 13% failed to answer, according to a press release of the Rating Sociology Group issued on Monday.

In comparison with a similar study conducted a year ago, the number of people who said they are rather happy dropped from 70% to 68%. But the number of those who said they are definitely happy decreased from 27% to 17%.

As a year ago, most residents of the northern part and the western part of the country said they were happy, while most residents of Donbas said they were less happy.

The study was conducted in October this year. Some 2,000 respondents participated in the poll. The poll's margin of error does not exceed 3% for findings close to 50%, 2.6% for the findings close to 30%, and 1.8% for the findings close to 10%.
