Initiators of the public project Education Platform joined forces to strengthen rights and freedoms during the reform of education in Ukraine so they are in line with European educational strategies, reports the Institute for Religious Freedom.

This is stated in the Memorandum, signed June 26, 2012, by the heads of the Andrey Sheptytsky Educational Foundation, Institute for Leadership, Innovation, and Development, Institute for Religious Freedom, the Center for Educational Monitoring, and the Institute for Christian Democracy.

The main objectives of the project Education Platform are to analyze the real situation and trends in the development of secondary education, and provide special attention to the development of private schools, including religious-based organizations and public demand in this area.

The organizers aim to defend the interests of parents and students, churches and religious organizations, and private secondary schools in preparing new legislation on education and in the course of educational reform. The project will help attract the attention of the civil society to the problems of forming and realizing state policy in secondary education in Ukraine.

The project plans to carry out an analysis of the modern state of the formation of a network of secondary schools founded by religious organizations, the use of a religious component in the educational process at state and municipal schools, and the development of theological education in Ukraine.
