Metropolitan-Archbishop Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia holds first working meeting with the hierarchs of UGCC in USA

During a meeting on March 6, the bishops under the direction of Metropolitan-Archbishop Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia discussed the plan to hold commemorative events on the occasion of the enthronement that will take place on June 4 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia. According to the information department of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, eight days of prayer, from 2 to 9 June, missionary services and celebrations will be held under the slogan “From Heart to Heart”.

According to the hierarchs, these events will involve all the clergy, monastics and laymen, especially young people, and not only from the Philadelphia Archeparchy, but from all dioceses in the United States and globally.

The bishops also presented and discussed their pastoral plans for individual dioceses and the entire Metropolia for 2019-2020.

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan-Archbishop Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia), Assistant Bishop of the Philadelphia Archdiocese Andriy (Rabiy), Assistant Bishop of the Philadelphia Archeparchy John Bura, Eparch of Stamford Pavlo Khomnitsky, Eparch of the Saint Nicolas Diocese in Chicago Venedikt Aleksiychuk , Eparch of the diocese of Saint Josaphat in Parma Bogdan Danylo.

As it was reported, on February 18, 2019, Pope Francis proclaimed Borys Gudziak to be Metropolitan and Archbishop of Philadelphia. Before his new appointment, Bishop Borys performed his ministry as the Eparch of the Paris diocese of St. Volodymyr the Great, to which France, the Benelux countries and Switzerland are subject.
