The visit of Patriarch Sviatoslav, the Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, to the United States began on August 6. The Hierarch will hold a series of important meetings in Baltimore, Stamford, Stockton, and Philadelphia. The visit will end on August 22, the Department of Information of the UGCC reports.

On August 7 – 9, the head of the UGCC will take part in the Columbus Knights Convention in Baltimore, Maryland, during which the Greek-Catholic leader will deliver his keynote speech at a gala dinner. The speech is themed “Knights of Columbus - Knights of Mercy.” In addition, he will meet with Sean Callahan, President of the Catholic Relief Service. They will discuss the current humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the cooperation of the Church and charitable organizations for the victims of the war.

Thereafter, His Beatitude Sviatoslav will make a pastoral visit to the Diocese of Stamford, within which he will meet with the priests and faithful of the diocese.

In particular, on Thursday, August 9, in Stamford, Connecticut, the Head of the UGCC will attend a feast.

The pastoral visit to the Stamford Diocese will end on Sunday, August 12, with a pilgrimage to St Mary's Villa in Sloatsburg, New York, which is supervised by Sisters Servants.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, will pray there jointly with the Head of the UGCC, bishops, priests, monks and numerous lay people.

It is worth noting that during the visit to the USA, meetings will be held in Philadelphia, PA, with the administration of the Religious Society St. Sophia in the USA and a fraternal meeting with the hierarchs of the Ruthenian Catholic Church.
