New Auxiliary Bishop of Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy Nominated

On November 19, 2012, it was announced in the Vatican that Pope Benedict XVI appointed a teacher of the Uzhhorod Teodor Romzha Greek Catholic Theological Academy, Fr. Nil (Yuriy) Lushchak Auxiliary Bishop of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy.

Fr. Yurii was born on May 22, 1973, in Uzhhorod. Upon completion of his studies in the local Greek-Catholic spiritual seminary, on July 2, 1996, he was ordained priest. He served as the parish priest in several parishes of the Mukachevo Eparchy.

From 2004 to 2008, Fr. Luschak studied at the Pontifical Urbaniana University where he completed the licentiate program in philosophy.

In 2009, he started the novitiate in the Ordo Fratrum Minorum where he was given the monastic name Nil and took monastic vows in 2010. In the same year, he began to teach philosophy in the Uzhhorod Teodor Romzha Greek-Catholic Theological Academy.
