This was reported by Ukrinform that cited the site of Mariupol City Council.

"The papal representative came to the city in the evening on May 14. A key objective of the visit was to see the real living conditions of IDPs who settled in Mariupol, learn about their problems, about what help they are getting and what they need the most,” goes  the statement.

During a private conversation with Mayor Vadym Boychenko the issues of resettlement of migrants, lack of social housing in the city, as well as the employment of people who were forced to leave their homes were discussed.

In an informal setting Claudio Gugerotti and Vadym Boychenko visited two families of immigrants, a lonely mother bringing up five children from Horlivka and a family from Donetsk that raises a child with severe disabilities.

The papal representative wished the families of strength, patience and care, and expressed support saying that the conflict in Ukraine should be regulated so that civilians and children were not affected.

On Sunday, May 15, Claudio Gugerotti attended the service in the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Mariupol.
