Kyiv—In the town of Yevpatoria in southern Ukrainian Crimea on 25-26 September 2008, a seminar “Main objectives of the realization of the law of Ukraine ‘On freedom of worship and religious organizations’” was held. As part of his working visit to Crimea, the assistant head of the State Committee of Ukraine on Matters of Nationalities and Religions, Mykola Novychenko, held consultative interviews with the mufti of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Crimea, Hadzhi Emirali Ablaiev, and representatives of Islamic and Christian organizations of Crimea. They exchanged ideas as to further development of church-state relations and religion in Crimea.
The participants heard the following reports: Priorities of church-state policy in modern Ukraine, Problems of church-state relations in the Crimean Autonomous Republic and ways to solve them, Modern religious movements in the world and Ukraine, On certain problems of internal Islamic relations in Crimea, and Urgent issues of the activity of religious organizations in Crimea.
