New Women’s Monastery Consecrated in Kyiv

30.09.2008, [18:50] // UGCC //

Kyiv—a newly-built St. Sophia’s Home of Sister Servants of the Holy Virgin Mary was ceremonially consecrated by the Assistant Bishop Bohdan Dziurakh of the Kyivan Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church on September 14.

The sisters were greeted personally by Patriarch Lubomyr, who expressed his wish for the new home to be always open to the needs of the children, youth, and elderly seeking God.

Bishop Bohdan thanked the sisters for their pastoral work of many years in Kyiv. He stressed that the sisters work on three Church levels in the capital: they serve in the Apostolic Nunciate at the universal level, they work at Patriarch Lubomyr’s residence at the patriarchal level and they conduct apostolate in several parishes at the arch-eparchial level.

In addition to UGCC clergy, the event was attended representatives of the Roman Catholic Church.
