Religious leaders joined Ukraine's military and political leadership in prayer for Holodomor victims
The prayer occurred after the most intensified drone attacks on Kyiv last night during the entire conflict with Russia.
According to the Information Department of the UGCC, each spiritual leader offered prayers for the innocent victims who perished due to famine in Ukraine.
"Grant eternal rest with the saints, O Christ, to the souls of your innocent servants killed by hunger in Ukraine, where there is neither pain nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life everlasting. You alone are immortal, who created and fashioned man, and we, earthly, formed from the earth, shall return to that earth, for You commanded, saying to me, 'You are dust, and to dust, you shall return.' Where all of us, with funeral lament, sing the hymn: Alleluia," stated the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
After the conclusion of the prayer, church leaders and religious organization heads, alongside the President of Ukraine and representatives of the military-political leadership, proceeded to the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide.
Morning memorial events also saw the participation of foreign delegations: President of Latvia, Egils Levits, President of Switzerland, Alain Berset, Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė, heads and members of foreign parliaments, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
