Happy birthday, Ukraine! In Yiddish, Gypsy, Georgian and Armenian
August 24th Ukraine celebrates her 19th birthday: this day Ukrainian parliament Verkhovna Rada officially declared the independency from Soviet Union. During 19 years the certain canon of celebration has been developed: nationalistic speeches, military parades, Cossacks, people in embroidered clothes, etc. To some people this is the expression of patriotism, to the other – boring ceremonies.
Yesterday Ukrainian bloggers were alerted with viral video: different nationalities living in Ukraine sing Ukrainian anthem in their native language. There is no indication of the source: these videos were just uploaded on youtube. Maybe there is a hidden agenda or special technology before election or whatsoever behind this but for the moment that doesn’t matter. For many they just proved the unity of the nations and diversity of our country.
Enjoy!
