Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA distributed $25,000 to the families of the wounded and fallen soldiers in Ivano-Frankivsk

Fulfilling the mandate of the clergy and the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, and with the blessing of the primate of the UOC of the USA His Eminence Metropolitan Antony Scharba, bishop Daniel Zelinsky, being in Ukraine on various assignments relating to the ministry outreach programs, visited Ivano-Frankivsk State Office building on July 4-5, 2015, meeting with the representatives of Ukrainian government as well as members of the families of the fallen and wounded soldiers of Ukraine, UOC of the USA informs.

In the presence of journalists and TV channels correspondence bishop Daniel met with the children, mothers, sisters and wives of the wounded and fallen heroes.

The bishop spoke of the importance of spiritual and mental care for the wounded and the families of survivors.

All together $25,000 was distributed to the families of the wounded and fallen. People in Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv regions became the beneficiaries of the contribution of many parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, especially the faithful of Pokrova of the Mother of God Ukrainian Orthodox parish (Philadelphia, PA) that recently merged with St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA, making a donation of $50,000 to the special fund of the Consistory of the UOC of the USA, providing assistance to those in need in Ukraine.
