“We pray for the eternal peace of the victims and seek to share the pain of loss that their relatives are suffering now. It is painful for us that the tragedy occurred in eastern Ukraine, which is now forever linked in the minds of hundreds of Dutch, Malaysian, Australian, Indonesian families with senseless cruelty and cynical murder of innocent people.

The roughly destroyed civil aircraft is our common loss. This loss attests to bloody nature and international dimension of the campaign of terror waged by Russian aggressors in Donbas. Throwing Ukraine at the mercy of the military insurgents armed by the Kremlin, the international community will soon inevitably become the object of violence. The bloody Kremlin dictator wages war not only on our country, but also combats the humanistic ideals of the European Union and the international organization, formed after World War II. Despite the fact that Vladimir Putin and his cronies like to disguise with pseudo-orthodox rhetoric, in fact Moscow, like 97 years ago, has again declared war on biblical values, imbued with respect for the human person as the image and likeness of God. All of us, despite the differences of national cultures and creeds, are tried by a dramatic encounter with the civilization of violence and death. Let the sorrow and prayer for the innocent victims unite us in confronting this civilization of evil and added wisdom and strength to stop its aggressive invasion”, goes the statement by the consistory of the Diocese of Kharkiv and Poltava of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church over the loss of passengers and crew of Boeing 777 aircraft of Malaysian Airlines company. The Document was published on July 18 by Archbishop Ihor (Isichenko) of the Diocese of Kharkiv and Poltava of the UAOC.
