Poroshenko sworn in as president

Petro Poroshenko took oath of office as Ukraine's fifth president in the parliament.

Poroshenko swore on the manuscript of Peresopnytsya Gospel to serve Ukraine and preserve its territorial integrity and unity. Head of Constitution Court handed Poroshenko the symbols of presidency - a stamp, mace, and badge.

After that, Poroshenko went to Sofiyivska Square in central Kyiv, where the the ceremonial introduction of the commanders of Ukraine's military forces took place. An ecumenical prayer was held in St. Sophia Cathedral.
