On Saturday, November 23, Ukraine and the world will commemorate the millions of victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933. This is an unprecedented crime in the history of the world: millions of deaths, tens of millions of unborn children, shattered human destinies, the exhausted soul of the Ukrainian people.

This is an unprecedented crime in the history of the world: millions of deaths, tens of millions of unborn children, shattered human destinies, the exhausted soul of the Ukrainian people. The scale of this tragedy is unimaginable. It is called the Holodomor. Its essence is genocide. The heads of the Ukrainian churches call on believers and people of good will to join the commemorative events and help organize them.

On November 21-22, the Civic Committee organizes in Kyiv the International Forum “My People Exist, My People Will Always Be!” The forum will include an international symposium “The Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine: History and Memory” and the world premiere of the opera “Holodomor. Red Land. Hunger” by American composer of Ukrainian origin Virko Baley.

On November 21-23, the exhibition “Totalitarianism in Europe,” which will feature the totalitarian histories of Lithuania, Latvia , Estonia, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Romania , Bulgaria and Ukraine, will be held at the Ukrainian Home.

On November 22-23, the Ukrainian Youth Association of Ukraine will hold the campaign “Communion” to commemorate those who died innocently during the famine of 1932-1933 by prayer, fasting, and good deeds.

On November 23, as part of the campaign “Famine-Genocide of '32-33. We Remember!”, the following events will be held:

— National memorial event in Kyiv at the national museum “The Memorial in Commemoration of Famines’ Victims in Ukraine” (procession starts at 2:00 p.m. from Arsenal Metro Station, memorial service begins at 3:00 p.m., a national moment of silence will be held at 4:00 p.m.);

— Nationwide initiative “Light a Candle of Memory” – Ukrainians will light candles in the windows of their homes at 4:00 a.m.;

— Public memorial events on the central squares of cities across Ukraine;

— Memorial events in countries with Ukrainian communities.

The organizers hope that all Ukrainians will participate in immortalizing the memory of millions of Ukrainians who were executed by famine.
