Celebration of 1025th Anniversary of Rus Baptism to Be Attended By Reps of All Local Churches

The main events to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Rus Baptism are planned for July 27-28, the press service of the Kyiv city state administration reported to UNIAN.

The main events to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Rus Baptism are planned for July 27-28, the press service of the Kyiv city state administration reported to UNIAN.

This year, the celebratory events will be held at the international level. Various events will be for the first time organized in Russia and Belarus. The capital of Ukraine will be the epicenter of the celebration with the participation of representatives of all the local churches.

Today, as part of the preparation for the celebration, an organizing meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Kyiv Mayor Popov, where it was decided to intensify the preparation process, approve the plan of the celebratory events, and hold a meeting of the Kyiv City Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.

As part of the preparation for the celebration, the monuments to St. Prince Volodymyr, St. Princess Olha, St. Cyril and Methodius, Apostle Andrew and sacral buildings will be restored.

In addition, a monument in honor of the 1025th anniversary of the baptism of Rus will be erected on Naberezhne Highway.

According to the press service of Kyiv City Council, Deputy Mayor Hereha participated as a member of the Ukrainian delegation in the first session of the joint church and public organizing committee of the Moscow Patriarchate on the preparation and organization of the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the baptism of Rus, which was held on March 27 in Moscow with the participation of delegations of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

Ukraine was represented at the meeting by Administrator of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Metropolitan Antonii of Boryspil, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Hryshchenko, head of the Association of Ukraine’s Cities, Y. Vilkul, Deputy Mayor of Kyiv H. Hereha.

The main events will be held in Moscow, Kyiv and Minsk on July 27-30.

According to the organizers, the central events are to be mass processions in the cities of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
