KYIV – On February 25, 2010, a regular session of the Secretariat of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations was held on the premises of Caritas-Spes, reports the Institute of Religious Freedom. The meeting was aimed to form proposals in the area of further development of the church-state dialogue. The participants also exchanged thoughts as to the specificities of this year's events on the occasion of the presidential inauguration.

According to thе representatives of the confessions, in the recent decade it has become a good tradition for the newly elected president to hold a meeting with members of the council usually on the day of inauguration. Such communication is not only a good opportunity for the heads of the churches to bless the president for good deeds in the interests of the nation but also gives an impetus for further the consolidation of the efforts of the church and state to overcome social problems and establish high morality in the society.

The secretariat of the council decided to put forward an initiative to propose President Yanukovych to hold such a meeting with the heads of the confessions at his convenience.
