New UOC Primate to be elected without Patriarch Kirill

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate will not invite Patriarch Kirill to participate in the festivities dedicated to the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus and in the election of a new Primate.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate will not invite Patriarch Kirill to participate in the festivities dedicated to the Day of Baptism of Kyivan Rus and in the election of a new Primate, reports the UOC-MP press-service.

During the festivities dedicated to the Baptism of Rus and during the Council of Bishops of the UOC, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill does not plan any visits to Kyiv and other dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church including the Crimean Diocese.

According to the Moscow Patriarchy, Patriarch Kirill will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Only the ruling and vicar bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will take part in the Council of Bishops of the UOC on August 13.

It is not planned to invite representatives of the Moscow Patriarchy and other Local Orthodox Churches”, goes the statement of the press-service of the UOC-MP.
