    Journalist Katryna Shchotkina becomes first laureate of Blessed Karol Wojtyla Prize

    On June 24, for the first time in Ukraine, the journalism prize of Blessed Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) was awarded. The laureate is the famous Ukrainian journalist Kateryna Shchotkina (Pano), who until recently was the editor for the Church section of the daily Dzerkalo Tyzhnia.

    Ukrainians Participate in World Congress of Catholic Press

    The World Congress of the Catholic Press is being held in Rome. The participants discuss the place of the printed media in the world, the threats and possibilities of the Internet, and how to bring the word of truth to modern audiences. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is represented at the congress by the head of the Information Department of UGCC, Fr. Ihor Yatsiv and a journalist, Dmytro Krykun.

    Representatives of Various Religions Included in List of Most Influential Ukrainians

    This year the rating of the most influential Ukrainians published by the magazine Korrespondent includes the same religious leaders as in 2009: the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP), Metropolitan Volodymyr; the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) Patriarch Filaret; the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), Patriarch Lubomyr; and the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Yaakov Dov Bleich. However, their positions have changed a little.
