Village community in Cherkasy left UOC (MP) to join UOC-KP

Residents of Lypyanka village, Shpola district in Cherkasy region left jurisdiction of the UOC Moscow Patriarchate and joined the UOC-KP.

Residents of Lypyanka village, Shpola district in Cherkasy region left jurisdiction of the UOC Moscow Patriarchate and joined the UOC-KP.

It was reported by the official site of the Kyiv Patriarchate.

According to the report, Shpola Dean of the Moscow Patriarchate priest Vasyl Kostenko visited the village along with other priests of UOC (MP) and repeatedly threatened the chairman of Lypyanka village council and many residents of the village, but despite the pressure and threats, the community members were firm in their decision.

On October 9, Metropolitan Ivan (Yaremenko) of Cherkasy and Chyhyryn of the UOC KP made an archpastoral visit to the Orthodox community of Lypyanka village and greeted the faithful on feast. He celebrated the Liturgy and blessed the newly erected church.
