An extraordinary event – the Euro 2012 football championship – the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) sees as an opportunity to win over foreign football fans and calls on the faithful to show tolerance and goodwill to foreign visitors.

Head of the Youth Commission of the Lviv Archeparchy of the UGCC, Father Taras Mylian, is convinced that Euro 2012 is an opportunity for Ukrainians, Lviv residents in particular, to demonstrate their good behavior, intelligence and morality, and to show Ukraine as an open and friendly country, informs Zaxid.net with reference to the media center Lviv-2012.

According to him, one should not be afraid of his or her affiliation to the state, city and the Christian religion, but be a good example for foreign fans and tourists who come for the football championship.

"It is important to show that we, Ukrainians, are people of high morality and that football is a chance to meet and not for the mass consumption of beer and immoral festivities. The fact that we can have fun should be shown through a friendly word, through mutual respect, through support and understanding," says Father Taras Mylian.
