DNR militants disguised as National Guard robed the Iveron Icon Convent

The headquarters of ATO found that the militants of “DNR”have held sabotage operation to discredit the Ukrainian military and decided to attribute its results to the forces of anti-terrorist operation.

The military indicate that such provocation has been organized for the first time. Just recall the shooting of funeral procession from a mortar in Sartana, near Mariupol in October.

To perform provocative actions, thesabotage and reconnaissance groups usually engage the military servicemenof the Russian special units with Ukrainian background who know the Ukrainian language well.

These saboteurs were uniformed as military servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the appropriate insignia (chevrons, stripes, badges, Ukrainian state symbols). Saboteurs travel by road transport (armored vehicles) bearing identification marks of the ATO forces.

During their activities on the territory controlled by the ATO forces, in order to create confidence in the witnesses that are intentionally left alive, the saboteurs constantly emphasize their affiliation to the National Guard, the Right Sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the so-called nominal power units of the ATO.

Any sane person will become suspicious and mistrustful of the behavior of people who are marauding, plundering, killing, engaging in rape. The offender is talking about himself instead of hiding himself, says colonel ValentynFedychev.

He further stressed that the offender cannot imagine that the offender would wear stripes and signs (chevrons) indicating the exact name of his unit.

In addition, thecolonel believes, the wrong name "Ukrainian National Guard" should cause suspicion, as the actually existing name is the National Guard of Ukraine.

The ATO headquarters also notes that the buildings of the UOC churches are widely used by the "true believers" –DNR fighters – as warehouses for weapons and ammunition. This happened  in Slavyansk (4 trucks with ammunition withdrawn), in Sviatohorsk and more,” says ValentynFedychev, “we do not know if the arms and ammunition in the churches were kept upon agreement with the UOC (MP) ministers or without their desire .
