ITALY – "We created a working group and are working on the mechanisms of a bilateral cooperation of Europe and individual countries where the rights of Christians are infringed upon,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Franko Frattini in an interview to the newspaper Daily Avvenire.

He informed that by the end of April the European Union will put together special instructions for the embassies of the EU in those states where Christians are persecuted, informs the Institute of Religious Freedom.

The minister recognized that this is an unprecedented document, and expressed hope that he will help provide “more carefully observation of the treatment of religious minorities,” first and foremost of the Christians in countries that need “special attention.”  

The first on the list of these counties are North Korea, Iran, Somalia, and Saudi Arabia.

"Christians never had a political group that could offer then serious support through the government of the country in which they live,” declared the minister.
