"My peers are pensioners. To transfer patriarchal power to any of them would be futile. Our church has a synodal structure, which must search not for a person with extraordinary talents but for the leader of this community," Patriarch Lubomyr Husar said in an interview on Thursday.

Our church has a synodal structure that must search not for a person with extraordinary talents but for the leader of this community. The archbishop, father, and head of our church is the head of the synod. In our tradition, especially in the restored tradition, the synod is the governing body that sets the tone of the church’s life. I am sure that our bishops will look for a man who will plan for the future, who will continue the work that has already begun, because through the synod, we all take part in the life of our church," Patriarch Lubomyr Husar said in an interview on Thursday.

According to the hierarch, "a person capable of strengthing, supporting and promoting the church must be chosen. It is not about a single attribute but about the person's vision."

"We should take advantage of the internal unity of the church to move forward. We should look not only at the near but also at the distant future. We have already developed some strategies in our church for the next decade. These strategies should be put into practice and not remain words. Also, the proceedings that took place in the last 20 years should be continued with new force," said the Patriach Lubomyr.
