Pope Francis said that Ukraine has a special place in his heart and that he prays daily for the return of peace, for consolation for the neediest people and the progress of the country.

The Pontiff stated that his gesture of concrete support for victims of war [Papal collection in European Catholic parishes gathered more than 10 million euro] aimed to be a sign of Christian love. In addition, for those who suffer it is a gesture not to feel abandoned or forgotten and that the international community would not forget that it is its duty to make every effort to achieve peace in justice and solidarity.
