Heads of Churches Call on President to Prevent Actions of Propaganda of Homosexuality in Kyiv

During a meeting with Ukraine’s president on April 10, the heads of the churches passed to the president a letter with a request to prevent public actions aimed at propagating homosexuality in Kyiv.

During a meeting with Ukraine’s president on April 10, the heads of the churches passed to the president a letter with a request to prevent public actions aimed at propagating homosexuality in Kyiv.

In their letter, the authors ask Viktor Yanukovych “to instruct the Kyiv City State Administration and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to litigate the applications of LGBT community representatives for organizing gatherings, marches, demonstrations and other peaceful public actions, particularly the Kyiv Pride 2012 street event in Kyiv in May 2012,” reported the Information Department of UGCC.

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan Mefodii of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Viacheslav Nesteruk of  the Union of Churches of Evangelical Christians Baptists, Archbishop Leonid Padun of the Ukrainian Christian Evangelical Church, Senior Bishop Mykhailo Panochko of the Union of Churches of Christians of Evangelical Faith of Ukraine, Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Ordinary Bishop of the Lutsk Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine, Markian Trofymiak, Patriarch Filaret of the UOC-Kyivan Patriarchate.
